In the priorities™ exercise, we literally play cards. It is a unique way to identify the top five high level priorities the client has for their life and their finances, as well as their mutual top five priorities, if they are married or have partners. Each card represents a different priority such as taking care of family, gaining financial independence, and so on. We help clients put those five priorities in order of importance and then CWP can create a financial profile, or behavioral profile, which identifies how the client makes their financial decisions.
Simply talking about your values is somewhat therapeutic for both individuals and couples as now you will know what your values are and how they impact your financial life. Understanding the impact helps you make better decisions going forward. All CWP’s advice, monitoring, and adjusting will be based on helping clients make better decisions. We just need a starting place.
